Phulchowki Day Hiking

The Phulchowki Day Hiking takes you to one of the best and most popular hiking destinations around the Kathmandu valley, Phulchowki Hill. Located to the south of the valley in the Lalitpur district at an altitude of 2789 M, it is the highest of all the hills that surround the Kathmandu valley. The name, ‘Phulchowki’ translates to, ’A hill of flowers’. It is a great place to enjoy the serenity of nature away from the hustle and bustle of the city areas. The Phulchowki Day Hiking takes you all the way to the top of the hill through the lush forest with the soothing sounds of birds chirping. The hill is covered with dense forests of Rhododendron, Oak, Bamboo, and different species of wildflowers. If you are hiking during the spring, you will be welcomed by colorful Rhododendrons flowers along the trail. Due to its richness of vegetation, it is home to various numbers of birds. It is one of the best places for bird watching as well around the Kathmandu valley. When you reach the top of the hill, you will see the shrines and statues of Phulchowki Mai covered with prayer flags and bells. From there, the stunning panoramic views of different Himalayan ranges like Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh, Langtang, Rolwaling, and Gaurishankar can be seen. Phulchowki Day Hiking starts and ends at Godawari. The trail to the top is about 13 km from there. It takes a total of 7-8 hours of walking to complete the hike

Itinerary

Day 01: Drive to Godawari, hike to the top of the Phulchoki Hill(2789 M), hike down the same route and drive to hotel

Your guide will meet you at your hotel at 8 AM. He will brief you about the program and drive you to Godawari. From there you will start the hike. Hiking through the quiet and beautiful mixed forest, you will reach the top in around 5 hours. From the top, you will enjoy the magnificent view of the Himalayas and Kathmandu Valley. You will take your lunch there. After spending some time there, you will hike down to Godawari following the same route. Then, your guide will drop you to your hotel and bid farewell.
