Langtang Gosainkunda Trek

The Langtang Gosainkunda Trek is a 16-day journey to the holy lake of Gosaikunda and the beautiful Langtang Valley with a bit of the Helambu region at the end. The trek is moderate as the highest point is around 4984 meters. The trek offers amazing nature and cultural experiences to its visitors. As a result, it has become one of the most popular treks in Nepal for both domestic and international tourists. The Langtang Gosainkunda Trek lies within the boundary of Langtang National Park, the first Himalayan national park of Nepal known for its rich wildlife, vegetation, spectacular mountain sceneries, and natural landscapes. It is home to various species of endangered animals like Red Panda, Himalayan Black Bear, Snow Leopard, Wild Dog, and Ghoral. The trail passes through the dense forest of Rhododendrons, Oaks, and Junipers, quiet streams and rivulets, alpine lakes, and beautiful pasture valleys. If you are lucky enough, you might get a chance to see Red Pandas playing around the trees. During the trek, the panoramic view of various peaks, especially of the Langtang range is simply amazing. Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel. Take the rest of the day to relax, refresh, and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley sightseeing and trek preparation
Explore Kathmandu’s cultural and historical gems, such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath Stupa. In the afternoon, finalize your trekking permits and meet your guide for a briefing on the trek.

Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi (1467 M)
Today, you’ll drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the starting point of your Langtang trek. The scenic drive takes you through mountain villages, terraced fields, and rivers, offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscapes.

Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel (2470 M)
The trek begins with a gradual ascent, passing through dense forests of oak and rhododendron. You’ll reach Lama Hotel, a small lodge in a peaceful spot, offering a great atmosphere for your first overnight in the mountains.

Day 05: Trek to Langtang village (3430 M)
Continue your ascent through lush forest and riverside trails to Langtang village. This village is the cultural heart of the region, where you will be able to observe traditional Tamang culture and lifestyle.

Day 06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3870 M)
The trail to Kyanjin Gompa offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including Langtang Lirung. This peaceful monastery town is the highest point of the trek, surrounded by high peaks, glaciers, and meadows.

Day 07: Acclimatization day and explore Tserko Ri (4984 M)
Spend a day acclimatizing to the altitude by trekking to Tserko Ri, a viewpoint at 4984 meters. The panoramic view of the Langtang Valley, Langtang Lirung, and other surrounding peaks will be a highlight of your trip.

Day 08: Trek to Lama Hotel (2380 M)
After your acclimatization day, you will descend back to Lama Hotel. The descent is easier on the body, but still provides opportunities to appreciate the lush forest and mountain surroundings.

Day 09: Trek to Thulo Syabru (2250 M)
Continue your descent and then start heading towards Thulo Syabru, a village known for its beautiful terraced fields and distant views of the Ganesh Himal. This village is a great spot for a restful night after a few days of high-altitude trekking.

Day 10: Trek to Shin Gompa (3300 M)
Today’s trek takes you through forests of pine and rhododendron to Shin Gompa, a serene place known for its Buddhist monastery and views of the Langtang range. The gentle elevation change prepares you for the upcoming high-altitude trek.

Day 11: Trek to Gosaikunda (4460 M)
Trek towards Gosaikunda, a sacred alpine lake. The trail becomes steeper as you approach this holy place for Hindus and Buddhists alike. At an altitude of 4460 meters, Gosaikunda offers an incredible natural landscape and is a highlight of the trek.

Day 12: Trek to Ghopte (3440 M) via Laurebina Pass (4610 M)
Today’s trek is a challenging one as you cross the Laurebina Pass, which sits at 4610 meters. From the pass, you will descend to Ghopte, a small village where you can rest and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains.

Day 13: Trek to Kutumsang (2470 M)
Trek to Kutumsang, a charming village that sits in a beautiful location, with great views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The descent through forests provides a gentle change in pace.

Day 14: Trek to Chisapani (2165 M)
Continue your descent to Chisapani, a popular stopping point for trekkers. Here, you can enjoy the mountain views and take in the tranquil surroundings of this small village.

Day 15: Trek to Sundarijal and drive to Hotel
On your final day of trekking, walk down to Sundarijal, where your trek concludes. From here, you’ll take a short drive back to your hotel in Kathmandu, where you can rest and reflect on your amazing journey.

Day 16: Final departure
After an unforgettable trekking experience, you will be transferred to the airport for your final departure from Nepal, taking with you memories of breathtaking landscapes and cultural experiences.
